The Orville Season 1 Episode 1 "Old Wounds" Review

To boldly go where no one has gone before. Unfortunately, that is Star Trek and it's a different Sci-Fi series but The Orville looks and feels like it came out of Star Trek.

The costumes feel Star Trek, the setting feels Star Trek, outer-space feels Star Trek, the ship itself feels Star Trek, the characters and aliens feel Star Trek.

Almost everything about The Orville look and feel Star Trek. They even have their own Holodeck. I'm sure it's not called a Holodeck but they have it in this universe.

In fact, while watching Episode 1 of The Orville, the ship kinda reminded me more of USS Voyager because the shape of the Orville is like a Federation Science Starship.

As you can see, I freaking like almost everything about The Orville simply because watching it made me feel like I'm watching a modernized version of an old Star Trek Series like Voyager.

Now, the only thing I didn't like about The Orville is the humor. For some reason, most of the jokes didn't connect with me because they are too simple, too awkward, too out of place, too predictable and too cliche.

The story for Episode 1 is fine. It's not great but it's not overly bad. It's just that they kept throwing in jokes or lines that don't really do anything except force somekind of humor that does not feel natural.

If they can nail the humor and balance it with the seriousness of the story they're telling then The Orville has the potential to be a great Sci-Fi series.

Overall, I like The Orville and I enjoyed watching this first episode because I was able to look pass the not so good stuff and just enjoy the feeling of watching something that looks and feels like Star Trek.
